Position: Project Architect: Industrial + Advanced Manufacturing

Compensation: $110,000 - $120,000

Location: Hybrid in East Brunswick, NJ (3 days in office per week)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a skilled Project Architect with a strong portfolio in industrial and advanced manufacturing design. This role offers the opportunity to lead the planning and design of both greenfield and brownfield projects, ranging from cutting-edge flavor, fragrance, and cosmetic manufacturing facilities to high-performance development and analytical laboratories.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for translating complex process and regulatory requirements into efficient, future-ready facilities, guiding projects from test-fit and feasibility studies through Schematic Design (SD), Design Development (DD), and Construction Documentation (CD).

Key Responsibilities

Test Fit & Feasibility Studies: 

  • Develop block plans, adjacency diagrams, and utility assessments to validate program/site fit;
  • Quantify building massing, circulation, and code constraints to inform go/no-go decisions;

Schematic Design (SD)

  • Produce Revit-based floor plans, elevations, and 3D views incorporating process flows, ISO clean zones, and MEP envelopes;
  • Lead client and stakeholder workshops to refine and align design intent

Design Development (DD)

  • Coordinate closely with structural, MEP, and process engineers to finalize scope, material selections, and envelope detailing;

Planning & Compliance

  • Interpret and apply zoning, environmental, and building codes (IBC, NFPA, FM Global, cGMP, where applicable);
  • Prepare and submit documentation required for AHJ, EPA, and OSHA approvals

Project Leadership & Collaboration

  • Mentor junior staff and manage coordination with external consultants;
  • Support business development efforts through scope narratives, schedule inputs, and fee proposal development;

Qualifications:

  • 8-10 years of experience designing industrial or advanced manufacturing facilities;
  • Proven track record delivering full design packages from feasibility through CDs;
  • Expert proficiency in Revit, Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Autodesk Construction Cloud;
  • Working knowledge of IBC, NFPA, ADA, and OSHA requirements; Familiarity with AIA contract documents and a range of project delivery methods (DBB, DB, EPCM);
  • Strong communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills;
  • Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving capabilities
