Job Description
The Maintenance Mechanic will be a critical first responder for all manufacturing equipment used in lithium-ion battery production. This role will apply technical skills to install, maintain and repair highly automated and high-volume manufacturing systems.
Essential/Key Functions:
- Perform maintenance repairs on these types of equipment: Electrical systems ranging from 24 VDC to 480 VAC 3 phase, Mechanical systems, Conveyor Systems, Hydraulics, Pneumatics / Vacuum Systems, PLC and networks.
- Maintain detailed, accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs in a CMMS.
- Monitor equipment performance metrics, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime and enhance efficiency.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for equipment failures, ensuring timely and effective repairs to minimize production disruptions.
- Collaborate with Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability.
- Troubleshooting complex mechanical systems – servo motors, ball screws, linear rails, conveyor systems.
- Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements; promote a safe working environment.
- Adhere strictly to safety standards (LOTO, Arc Flash, NFPA 70E, OSHA) to promote a safe working environment.
- Performs in a manner that will prevent errors and omissions of maintenance tasks and work orders.
- Provide emergency breakdown response, including occasional on-call availability.
- Physical presence on the job is essential and necessary.
- Read and comprehend instructions and follow established procedures.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum (Required) Qualifications:
Experience
- 3-5 years of experience in equipment maintenance, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
- Journeyman’s Card from an accredited apprenticeship program preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must be comfortable supporting US military-funded work and building products for US military testing and use.
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems; familiarity with lithium-ion manufacturing processes is a plus.
- Excellent troubleshooting skills with the ability to analyze complex problems and implement effective solutions.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting PLCs is required with specific Beckhoff systems’ experience strongly preferred.
- Ability to read prints and suggest modifications as required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
- Ability to work independently with no supervision.
