Director of Technology

Job Summary:

The Director of Technology will lead technology-based engineering design projects, primarily focusing on Division 27 (Communications) and Division 28 (Electronic Safety and Security) scopes of work for K-12 and Higher Education facilities. This role involves overseeing project execution, providing technical leadership, and serving as a key liaison between clients (owners) and architectural teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead technology-based engineering design projects from conception to completion.

  • Provide technical guidance and expertise to engineering teams and senior management.

  • Support organizational objectives by developing and implementing strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Identify and implement strategies to improve cost-efficiency in technology solutions and processes.

  • Oversee the hiring and management of department staff.

  • Lead and manage technology engineering teams.

  • Design and develop engineering strategies for technology systems.

  • Direct the design process for Communications Technology Construction projects.

  • Act as the primary liaison with clients and architectural teams to gather requirements and coordinate project efforts.

Required Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a director-level or similar leadership role.

  • Broad knowledge of software engineering principles, languages, frameworks, techniques, and industry trends.

  • Experience leading significant organizational change initiatives, including change management and integrating teams across different business units or locations.

  • Experience designing and managing an effective IT governance framework covering the spectrum of IT service delivery.
