Key Responsibilities:
Maintain and update comprehensive CAD drawings for the facility, ensuring accurate as-built documentation, including equipment layouts, utilities, and infrastructure
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to incorporate facility modifications and new equipment updates into drawings
Evaluate operational systems and infrastructure to identify efficiency improvements
Ensure compliance with safety, fire, and environmental regulations at local, state, and federal levels
Define equipment specifications in collaboration with engineering teams to ensure technical and quality standards are met
Assess and select equipment suppliers based on capability, reliability, and cost-effectiveness
Support contract finalization and coordinate delivery and installation timelines with procurement and legal teams
Develop efficient production workflows and plant layouts based on Lean Manufacturing principles
Optimize equipment layouts and storage solutions to reduce material handling time and increase operational efficiency
Analyze production forecasts to determine equipment and labor needs; create capacity models for cell, module, and pack lines
Identify potential bottlenecks and recommend solutions to ensure scalability and efficient operation
Partner with Process, Mechanical, Electrical, and Controls Engineers, as well as MES Specialists, to ensure robust production planning
Contribute to PFMEA activities to identify and mitigate production risks
Work with Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) teams to implement effective safety protocols
Prepare and maintain process flow diagrams, layout drawings, and utility matrices (electrical, compressed air, dust collection, etc.)
Provide stakeholders with regular, data-driven progress reports and updates on facility planning efforts
Support energy-saving initiatives and sustainability programs; oversee Building Automation System (BAS) optimization
Integrate Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) into facility planning to ensure traceability and real-time data capture
Coordinate with IT teams to align data reporting tools with operational needs
Maintain a regular on-site presence to support hands-on planning and implementation
Adhere to all safety guidelines and support a safety-first work culture
Perform additional duties as assigned by management
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, Certified Energy Manager) preferred
5+ years of experience in manufacturing facility planning or a similar role, with experience in large-scale manufacturing projects
Experience in the lithium-ion battery industry or related sectors is a plus
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Must be eligible to support U.S. military-funded projects and products
Proficient in CAD software for facility and layout planning (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks)
Strong understanding of facility utilities (electrical, HVAC, compressed air, dust collection)
Proficiency in capacity planning tools and Lean Manufacturing methodologies
Familiar with APQP guidelines and PFMEA processes
Working knowledge of MES systems and their integration into manufacturing operations
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Effective communicator with the ability to clearly present complex technical information
Collaborative team player with a track record of cross-functional success

Must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, protected individual under 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), or otherwise authorized to work under ITAR regulations
