Position Title: Electrical Design Engineer
Department: Engineering
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Position Summary:
The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for designing digital and mixed-signal control and monitoring circuitry, PCB design and layout, and FPGA code development for state-of-the-art power frequency converters. The role involves coordinating design specifications and requirements as part of a cross-functional team within the Design Engineering group. The power converter products vary in power range and frequency specifications.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Design, develop, test, and evaluate digital and mixed-signal circuits for industrial frequency/power converters.
Define requirements, select components, create schematics, layout PCBs, perform analysis, simulations, and conduct design reviews.
Ensure product compliance with relevant industry and military specifications. Participate in systems integration, debugging, and testing at the product level.
Collaborate with software engineers for the development of firmware and software for the board designs.
Integrate control and monitoring circuitry with power circuitry in collaboration with electrical engineers.
Prepare and release board documentation including engineering drawings, schematics, bills of materials, and gerber files.
Stay updated with the latest devices, technologies, and design techniques.
Provide technical and schedule updates to management.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Degree in Electronic/Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with at least 3 years of experience in circuit design.
Experience in power conversion design is preferred.
Experience with board-level designs, including FPGA, CPLD, DSP, and microcontrollers.
Proficient in product development and design environments.
Familiarity with military, customer, and industry specifications.
Experience with PCB layout software (e.g., OrCAD, PADS) is preferred.
Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and design rules.
Experience with SPICE and PSIM simulation software for component-level modeling.
Proficiency in C/C++ programming languages preferred.
Ability to meet schedule milestones and attention to detail in documentation.
Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
Strong interpersonal skills for collaboration across groups.
Ability to manage complicated design/development tasks from start to completion.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to perform basic tasks such as climbing stairs, sitting, keyboarding, seeing, hearing, and fluently reading/speaking English.
