Job Description

Role Overview:

Our client is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join our corporate finance team, reporting directly to the CFO. The ideal candidate must hold an accounting designation and have prior experience in public reporting. Experience in securities, financial institutions, or capital markets is considered an asset.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare monthly management reports for senior leadership, including year-over-year (YoY) and quarter-over-quarter (QoQ) variance analysis.
  • Compile regulatory reporting packages, such as quarterly financial statements for the OSC.
    Develop annual financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, with supporting note disclosures where necessary.
  • Assist external auditors during the year-end financial statement audit.
  • Review and oversee bank reconciliations for all corporate and holding company accounts.
  • Approve journal entries, ensuring accuracy in accruals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Manage and maintain the fixed assets sub-ledger, including recording, reporting, and reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with various external service providers such as fund accounting custodians, prime brokers, transfer agents, insurers, and legal counsel to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial records.
  • Supervise treasury management functions and provide in-depth analysis of cash flow and expense management.
  • Lead the annual budgeting process, monitor budget-to-actual performance, and deliver variance analysis and insights.
  • Perform quarterly warrant fair valuations and conduct mark-to-market analyses on securities and investments.
  • Oversee and manage the company’s employee equity and stock-based compensation program.
  • Prepare quarterly corporate tax returns as well as commodity tax/VAT filings.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum of 5 years of public company or equivalent financial reporting experience, ideally within asset management, banking, or capital markets.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA – CA, CMA, CGA) with a strong understanding of IFRS reporting standards.
  • Practical experience in Canadian corporate and commodity tax regulations.
  • Knowledge of Black-Scholes and warrant valuation methodologies.
  • Strong proficiency in Excel (e.g., macros, VLOOKUPs, pivot tables)
  • Experience using general ledger accounting software (e.g., Oracle) is an asset, but candidates should have the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
