Job Description

Our client is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer for their Production Team.  This is a permanent, full-time, on-site position based in Mississauga Ontario.  Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading production engineering projects and supporting their continuous production line.  Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

  1. Improve manufacturing quality and continuous processes.
  2. Support maintenance in troubleshooting and solving issues with manufacturing equipment.
  3. Manage projects involving new equipment, design, installation, and modifications.
  4. Develop and enhance operating policies, standards, and best practices.
  5. Conduct engineering studies for efficiency improvements through LEAN and automation solutions.
  6. Contribute to ongoing initiatives for process improvement.
  7. Optimize manufacturing efficiency through workflow analysis and process improvements.
  8. Assist in cost and inventory reduction activities.
  9. Address quality issues in the manufacturing process.
  10. Contribute to the design of new products with a focus on manufacturability.
  11. Work on preventative and predictive maintenance practices with the maintenance team.
  12. Design and procure in-house solutions and equipment.
  13. Contribute to the development of an industry 4.0 environment, connecting equipment to ERP software.

Requirements:

  1. Degree or Diploma in Electro-Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or related discipline.
  2. 5+ years of hands-on experience designing/implementing automation projects within a continuous manufacturing and assembly environment.
  3. 3+ years experience with PLC/HMI/SCADA integration, programming, and troubleshooting.
  4. 2+ years experience with end-to-end automation assembly is an asset.
  5. Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks) is an asset.
  6. Strong written (documentation), verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  7. Professional, creative thinking, team player with an ability to handle multiple projects with the use of effective multi-tasking and prioritization skills. 
  8. Fast learner with the ability to understand and be creative with the mechanics of machines.
  9. Work well in a team environment, actively working with and supporting production line operators and maintenance technicians.
