Job Description

Our Federal Government client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced GIS Analyst with a background as a Geographic Information System Programmer/Analyst. The successful candidate will play a critical role in supporting geospatial projects using ESRI Technologies, particularly ArcMap 10.x, to produce essential output products such as maps and reports. Additionally, the ideal candidate should possess the expertise to generate high-quality maps, graphs, and charts using digital mapping techniques, computer interactive graphics, computer-assisted design and drafting (CAD) software, and geographic information systems (GIS).

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. GIS Data Analysis: Conduct thorough data analysis and integration of spatial datasets to develop accurate and reliable GIS data layers that align with Federal Government standards and requirements.

  2. Map Production: Utilize ArcMap 10.x and other relevant GIS software to create detailed and visually compelling maps for various Federal Government projects and initiatives.

  3. Report Generation: Prepare comprehensive reports that incorporate spatial data analysis, maps, and relevant graphs and charts to support decision-making processes within the Federal Government.

  4. GIS Programming: Develop and implement GIS applications and scripts to automate data processing, improve workflow efficiency, and adhere to specific Federal Government protocols.

  5. Spatial Data Management: Manage and maintain GIS databases, ensuring data security, accessibility, and compliance with Federal Government data policies and guidelines.

  6. Geographic Analysis: Conduct spatial analysis, modeling, and geospatial processing to extract meaningful insights and patterns from data for use in Federal Government initiatives.

  7. Collaboration and Coordination: Work closely with interdisciplinary teams and Federal Government stakeholders to ensure GIS-related activities align with project objectives and meet all necessary requirements.

  8. Quality Assurance: Implement rigorous quality control measures to verify the accuracy and reliability of GIS data and produced outputs in accordance with Federal Government standards.

  9. Emerging Technologies: Stay informed about the latest developments in GIS technology and methodologies to recommend and implement innovative solutions for Federal Government projects.

  10. Security and Compliance: Ensure GIS data and systems comply with Federal Government security protocols and regulations.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  1. Experience: At least 5 years of professional experience as a GIS Analyst, with a proven track record in GIS programming and analysis, preferably in a Federal Government setting.

  2. ESRI Technologies: Proficiency in working with ESRI products, particularly ArcMap 10.x, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Online, with a strong understanding of Federal Government data standards.

  3. Mapping and Visualization: Demonstrated ability to create visually appealing and informative maps, charts, and graphs using various GIS and graphic design tools.

  4. Programming Skills: Proficiency in scripting and programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or SQL for GIS automation and customization, with experience in implementing Federal Government-specific protocols.

  5. Spatial Analysis: Strong understanding of spatial analysis techniques, including buffering, overlay analysis, and geoprocessing, within the context of Federal Government projects.

 

Education

Bachelor's or higher degree in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
