Job Title: Business Analyst - Financial DataLocation: TorontoType: 4-month contract Job Summary:A dynamic organization seeks a detail-oriented Business Analyst / Data Analyst to support enterprise-wide financial reporting and analytics. The role focuses on transforming raw financial data from 30+ business units into standardized, actionable insights. Key responsibilities include data standardization, reporting development, and dashboard creation using Excel and Power BI.
Key Responsibilities:- Data Standardization & Management
- Collect, clean, and standardize financial data across over 30 business entities using Excel.
- Develop and maintain consistent input templates to streamline data collection and accuracy.
- Ensure data integrity by validating and reconciling discrepancies with relevant stakeholders.
Reporting & Analysis:- Design and implement uniform quarterly financial reporting templates.
- Aggregate financial data and generate consolidated reports for internal use.
- Perform variance analysis, identify trends, and generate data-driven insights.
Dashboard Development- Create and manage interactive dashboards and visual reports using Power BI.
- Automate data refresh cycles and ensure real-time data accuracy.
- Communicate complex financial data in an understandable, actionable format.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Liaise with finance, IT, and business teams to understand data requirements and maintain integrity.
- Present insights and recommendations to senior leaders clearly and professionally.
Required Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Data Analytics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a business or data analysis role, ideally across multiple entities.
- Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, formulas, and macros.
- Proficiency in Power BI, including DAX and Power Query.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience in financial reporting and a solid understanding of accounting principles.
- Familiarity with SQL or other data querying tools.
- Exposure to shared services or centralized reporting environments.
