Job Description
Our client in the Non-Profit space is hiring a Pension Administrator to join their team full-time, fully remote in Toronto. The Pension Administrator is responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate administration of the orginzations pension plan. This includes calculating pension benefits (e.g., retirements, terminations, past service purchases) in accordance with plan rules and legislative requirements. The role also focuses on delivering exceptional customer service to plan members, supporting internal teams, and assisting with various administrative and reporting duties.
Responsibilities:
1. Customer Service (20%)
- Respond promptly and professionally to a wide range of pension inquiries.
- Manage and triage incoming emails from members.
- Provide members with pension plan documents and information upon request.
- Resolve or escalate issues related to pension plans.
- Educate members and employers on pension procedures, rights, and responsibilities.
- Ensure legislative compliance in member communications.
2. Pension Administration (70%)
- Perform standard and complex pension benefit calculations (e.g., early retirement, death, marriage breakdown).
- Validate and issue tax receipts for past service purchases.
- Maintain accuracy within the pension and benefits administration system (PABAS).
- Meet internal timelines and quality benchmarks.
- Collaborate with colleagues across the Benefits Centre and other organizational departments.
- Assist with special projects and cross-training when needed.
3. Filings and Year-End Activities (10%)
- Support preparation of year-end pension data and regulatory filings.
- Assist with the coordination and validation of Annual Statements.
- Prepare CRA-required reports (e.g., Pension Adjustments, T4s).
- Compile pension data for valuation and actuarial reports.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education in a relevant field.
- CEB/CEBS/PPAC certification (or working toward it) is considered an asset.
- 4-5 years of progressive experience in pension administration.
- Defined benefit plan experience required.
- Experience with third-party pension providers is an asset.
- Expertise in defined benefit pension plans and pension legislation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with large data sets.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; French is an asset.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Comfortable working in a highly confidential and client-focused environment.
