Job Description

 

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join the Information and Technology department with one of our Municipal clients' based in Halifax. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading and delivering a portfolio of technology and software implementation projects in alignment with the clients' PMO processes. The Project Manager will ensure solutions adhere to industry best practices while remaining practical and sustainable within the organizational context.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead end-to-end project management across a portfolio of IT and software implementation projects, ensuring adherence to scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, define scope, establish milestones, allocate resources, and manage timelines to ensure timely delivery.
  • Identify project risks and create mitigation strategies to ensure success.
  • Secure and manage project funding in accordance with the client's procedures.
  • Track project budgets and expenses to ensure cost-effective resource utilization.
  • Collaborate with business analysts, cross-functional teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliverables.
  • Apply project management best practices to improve operational efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct regular status meetings and provide timely updates to project steering committees.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor and report project progress using PMO dashboards and tools.
  • Manage change control processes as required.
  • Foster and manage stakeholder relationships to align expectations and ensure satisfaction.
  • Lead and motivate teams, resolve conflicts, and build a collaborative work environment.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience leading complex IT and business technology projects.
  • Strong understanding of software development lifecycles, data analytics, and cybersecurity.
  • Proven ability to manage technical projects and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT, Computer Science, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in project management tools such as:
  • Microsoft Project/Planner/Teams
  • Microsoft Planner
  • Microsoft Teams
  • SharePoint
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Familiarity with ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) and other IT Service Management frameworks.
  • Experience with:
  • Azure DevOps
  • Microsoft Power BI
  • Microsoft Visio Professional
  • Microsoft Office 365 training and tools
  • Experience in the utility sector.
  • Certifications such as SAFe®, PMI-DASM™, or CSM.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making.
