Job Description

Director of Corporate Communications

We are seeking a seasoned and versatile Director of Corporate Communications to lead both strategic and hands-on communication efforts across the organization. Reporting to the VP of Communications and supporting the CEO and Executive Leadership Team, this role combines high-level planning with day-to-day execution across internal, external, and public-facing communication channels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all internal and external communications, including executive, public relations, member, and employee messaging.

  • Support the CEO and ELT with communications planning, key messaging, speechwriting, and scripting for critical organizational updates and events.

  • Act as communications lead for major initiatives such as mergers, change management, crisis response, and corporate strategy rollouts.

  • Write and edit a range of materials including internal announcements, external press releases, executive messages, newsletters, AGM speeches, and campaign content.

  • Provide communications planning and support for company-wide projects, from day-to-day tactical planning to large-scale change efforts.

  • Serve as the organization's crisis communication lead—craft messaging during operational issues

  • Drive employee engagement and cultural initiatives in partnership with HR, including internal campaigns and events.

  • Proactively anticipate executive communication needs—take initiative without always being given a defined starting point.

  • Ensure alignment between communications and the organization's strategic priorities.

Skills & Experience

  • 8–10 years of progressive experience in corporate communications, including management experience.

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills with a proven ability to write in different voices and styles (especially executive tone).

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder communication projects from strategy to execution.

  • Experience working in cross-functional environments, particularly with HR, IT, operations, and executive offices.

  • Adept in crisis communication and media relations.

  • Resourceful and independent; able to act as a strategic advisor and trusted business partner to executives.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English, or a related field is required — or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
