Job Description

Our public sector client is seeking the services of an experienced Financial Analyst for a 3-month hybrid contract in North York.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitors and provides financial analysis and advice in relation to multi-year financial planning and forecasting, budget estimates processes, and budget control.
  • Acts as the primary contact for financial activities within their portfolio. Reviews and analyzes base model estimates (cost drivers/variables and assumptions) and financial forecast information, variance analysis for completeness and accuracy. Ensures financial transactions/records comply with accounting standards, government policies, procedures, and audit/documentation requirements
  • Conducts research, performs in-depth reviews and summaries of financial data, options analysis, and identifies any risks to performance against established objectives to support senior management reporting and decision-making.
  • Works with programs to identify appropriate performance and service standard information and incorporates it into financial analysis to assess business performance and identify risks to the achievement of objectives.
  • Uses financial reporting systems to prepare a variety of regular and ad hoc financial information and analytical reports.
  • Develops, supports, and maintains financial information/reporting systems and procedures to support budget monitoring and verify the integrity and reliability of financial information.
  • Provides client service to internal and external clients by identifying problems or potential problems, investigating and following up on errors or omissions, and identifying linkages and cross-cutting issues.
  • Advises on the financial impact of complex submissions and transactions to financial and non-financial audiences. Participates in the development, implementation, and communication of financial policies, procedures, processes, and best practices.

  • Extensive knowledge and experience relevant to the job responsibilities
  • Full proficiency in English
