We have a full-time PERMANENT opportunity for a Manager, Security & Information Assurance in Ottawa, ON. This is an exciting leadership role that will be joining our client that focuses on global defence, aerospace and security.
This is a non-technical role. We are not looking for someone with IT / cyber security experience.
Key Details

- Management: Leading a team of 2 Security Officers and 1 Administrator
- Compensation: $80,000 to $125,000
- Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite per week in Ottawa
Roles and Responsibilities
- Support the Director Corporate Support by leading the security operation of the organization
- Provide assurance of security performance and Information Assurance (IA) to senior management
- Provide internal security consultancy advice
- Liaise with internal security stakeholders where applicable
- Capture and interpret external requirements to ensure consistency
- Identify and define detailed required specifications and protocols
- Support external audits and internal assessments
- Support internal and external audits and conduct inspections
- Report on assurance activities across Canada
- Produce and review our client's Security and IA policies and processes, ensuring alignment not only with the Industrial Security Program but with our client's policies and processes
- Facilitate security and IA communications, supporting our client and their group security
- Design and deliver security training as appropriate
- Assist the business in maintaining testing and improving business continuity plans
- Ensure Security and IA requirements and risks of current and new business are identified and proactively managed.
- Ensure the continued safety and resilience of client's sites, staff and systems against security threats
- Investigate and engage in security investigations and “sweeps,” including the reporting of breaches and incidents promptly
- Provide support to the information asset owners with their departmental activities and ensure the positive record of access by users
- Complete outbound visit clearance requests for the Industrial Security Program
- Oversee completion of Controlled Goods Program exemptions for visitors and temporary workers
- Oversee security assessments for new hires commencing employment and advise the business of the results
- Ensure positive maintenance of facility keys for critical information assets, office doors, secure rooms, and security locking containers
- Enter, modify and delete alarm user codes into the facility alarm system for facility staff
- Program access cards into various areas of the buildings for facility staff
- Lead the development of security policies, procedures or security management plans
- Assess security threats and risks as appropriate
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Skills
- You have at least five years’ experience working within the Industrial Security Program and the Controlled Goods Program
- You have at least five years’ experience working within a Corporate Security Program
- You have working knowledge of physical security systems (Card access, CCTV, alarm systems)
- You have demonstrated experience writing security and/or emergency incident reports
- A Diploma in Security Management from an accredited post-secondary institution would be an asset
- Project management experience and/or qualifications would be an asset
- Working knowledge of establishing or maintaining business continuity programs, principles for information & cyber security would be an asset
- French/English bilingualism would be an asset
- You have basic knowledge of emergency management, conducting security related investigations, conducting business continuity program exercises
- You are eligible for a Canadian NATO Secret Security Clearance, ITAR, and Controlled Goods
Eligibility for Secret Level Clearance: To be eligible for a Secret level security clearance in Canada, you generally need to be a Canadian citizen, provide verifiable information for the past 10 years, and demonstrate both suitability and reliability throughout the assessment process.
