Job Description

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Payroll Coordinator to support the timely and accurate processing of payroll activities across the organization. This individual will ensure payroll compliance with relevant legislation and internal controls, assist in payroll reconciliation and reporting, and provide critical support during audits and year-end processes. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable collaborating cross-functionally with finance and HR stakeholders.

This is a remote position, open to candidates eligible to work in Canada. Strong preference for candidates located within PST time zone.

Responsibilities:
  • Process accurate and timely payroll using Ceridian/Dayforce, in alignment with employment agreements and CRA regulations.

  • Maintain data integrity in the payroll system and adhere to internal controls and procedures.

  • Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reconciliations, including working papers and financial reporting.

  • Assist with year-end filings such as T4, T4A, RL-1 summaries, and T2200s.

  • Respond to employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits, in coordination with HR.

  • Record payroll expenses and allocations in the accounting system.

  • Ensure accurate reporting and reconciliation of government remittances.

  • Maintain organized and confidential payroll records and documentation.

  • Assist with other payroll-related duties and ad hoc projects as assigned.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll workflows and enhance efficiency while maintaining compliance and control.

  • Document and update standard operating procedures for payroll processes.

  • Prepare payroll documentation and reports required for audits.

  • Respond to auditor inquiries in collaboration with the Senior Payroll Specialist.

  • Address payroll queries from internal and external stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  • Provide support to the Senior Payroll Specialist on various projects and tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in Canadian payroll processing, ideally within a mid-to-large sized organization.

  • Strong knowledge of CRA guidelines and payroll compliance standards.

  • Proficiency in Ceridian/Dayforce or similar payroll and accounting software.

  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) designation completed or in progress.

  • High attention to detail and ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

  • Effective communication skills with the ability to liaise professionally across departments.
