Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Project Manager to join our Client’s based in Halifax, Information & Technology department. In this critical role, you will lead a portfolio of business and technology projects from initiation through to successful delivery. This Senior Project Manager will drive software implementations and technology transformation initiatives, lead cross-functional process improvement efforts, and provide strategic guidance to ensure that solutions are optimized, sustainable, and in line with enterprise objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a portfolio of projects, ensuring alignment with scope, timeline, and budget.
- Develop comprehensive project plans, define milestones, manage risks, and allocate resources effectively.
- Secure project funding through established processes.
- Oversee and manage project budgets, track expenditures, and ensure financial accountability.
- Collaborate closely with business analysts, technical teams, and stakeholders to capture requirements and define deliverables.
- Apply project management best practices, methodologies, and tools to maximize efficiency.
- Provide consistent and transparent project updates to the steering committee and relevant stakeholders.
- Foster open communication across cross-functional teams and ensure stakeholder needs are met.
- Monitor project progress using dashboards and ensure compliance with PMO standards.
- Lead change management processes and perform change control activities as needed.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
- Mentor, motivate, and guide project teams to foster collaboration and resolve conflicts effectively.
Qualifications
- Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) preferred.
- Minimum 15 years of experience managing business and technology projects.
- Proven experience implementing enterprise project management frameworks, information systems, and digital solutions.
- Prior experience in the utility, government, or public sector is considered a strong asset.
- Experience in enterprise architecture and establishing IT service delivery programs/practices.
- Solid understanding of ITIL and other IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks.
- Familiarity with enterprise architecture methodologies such as TOGAF.
- Ability to comprehend technical aspects of IT projects, including software, infrastructure, and cybersecurity impacts.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think strategically and analytically.
- Data-driven decision-making capabilities to track project success and make informed recommendations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Project, Planner, and Visio Professional.
- Skilled in collaboration tools such as SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 Suite.
