Job Description

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our client in the retail industry. In this role, you'll be responsible for data entry, invoice processing, account reconciliations, and supporting financial reporting activities.

This is a 15-month contract opportunity based in Mississauga, offering a hybrid work arrangement.

Key Duties:

  • Use accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) to manage databases and oversee the tracking and payment of utility expenses.
  • Ensure accurate and prompt handling of incoming and outgoing payments.
  • Support daily monitoring of financial activity and assist with reconciling bank accounts.
  • Keep financial records current, including invoices and general ledger entries.
  • Process reimbursement forms and payments to vendors.
  • Assist with payroll activities and reimbursements for staff expenses.
  • Record day-to-day transactions, make necessary accruals or adjustments, and reconcile ledger balances.
  • Organize and verify payable documents and generate corresponding invoices.
  • Track credit notes, receipts, and associated documents efficiently.
  • Gather and file deposit and credit slip records from store locations, and document credit card usage for management.
  • Verify store cash deposits, match NCR records, and confirm funds are received in the bank.
  • Provide clerical support to the finance team, including document filing and data input.
  • Help reconcile trial balances using internal system reports.
  • Carry out additional tasks as needed to assist with the company’s financial operations and growth.

Qualifications:

  • 1-2 years of Accounting and Bookkeeping experience
  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks and experience with using an ERP system is an asset (preferably NetSuite)
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles and practices is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism
