Job Description

We are seeking an Expert-level Skill Assessment Consultant for a 3-month contract engagement. The primary objective is to conduct a comprehensive skills assessment within a large organization's Finance department, analyze the findings, and provide strategic recommendations for workforce development.

Our client operates on a hybrid model in downtown Toronto.

Key Responsibilities & Project Phases:

  1. Planning & Design: Understand current Finance roles/responsibilities; develop a strategic approach and detailed work plan for the skills assessment; design tailored assessment tools (e.g., surveys, interview guides).
  2. Assessment & Data Collection: Engage Finance staff and execute the skills assessment through the designed tools (surveys/interviews).
  3. Analysis & Reporting: Analyze collected data to identify skill strengths, deficiencies, and patterns across different roles/sections; compare findings against current job requirements; prepare detailed reports and present key findings, trends, and gap analyses to leadership.
  4. Recommendations: Develop data-driven recommendations for a training plan to address identified skill gaps. Assist in outlining the initial training plan structure.
  5. Communication: Develop and potentially assist with change management messaging to ensure positive employee engagement throughout the process.

Key Deliverables:

  • Customized skills assessment tools (surveys, interview guides, etc.).
  • Skill inventory summary reports (potentially at an individual or aggregated level).
  • Comprehensive Gap Analysis report detailing findings, trends, and comparisons.
  • Formal recommendations for training and development strategies based on assessment results.

Must-Have Qualifications & Experience:

  • Expert-level experience in Organizational Effectiveness, HR Strategic Planning, Workforce Planning, or a directly related field.
  • Proven ability to design, develop, and implement comprehensive skills assessments within a complex organizational structure (experience with Finance functions is an asset but not mandatory).
  • Strong proficiency in qualitative and quantitative data analysis – ability to synthesize information, identify trends, and derive meaningful insights regarding workforce capabilities.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and presenting clear, concise reports and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Expertise in assessing and providing recommendations to improve team, functional, or organizational performance through targeted development.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage project timelines, and deliver high-quality results within the contract duration.
