Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic IT Manager with 5–7 years of hands-on experience to lead and support our hybrid IT infrastructure spanning office-based, remote, and vessel-based operations. This role is ideal for a technically strong individual who can also lead a team, drive projects, and collaborate across departments to deliver robust IT services in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the IT team to support day-to-day operations, project delivery, and long-term IT strategy.
- Administer and maintain Microsoft infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Azure AD, and Office 365.
Oversee the IT service desk, providing support from Level 1 to Level 3, while mentoring team members and optimizing support workflows. - Configure, manage, and troubleshoot complex network environments (TCP/IP, routers, switches, firewalls, NAS devices).
- Supervise the build, maintenance, and improvement of vessel test environments used for training and troubleshooting fleet systems.
- Provide technical oversight and hands-on support for cloud-based and hybrid IT environments.
- Manage and support shipboard communications systems, satellite connections, and marine navigation technologies.
- Ensure structured cabling and physical network installations follow best practices and safety standards.
- Apply strong knowledge of the OSI model and network routing protocols to improve network reliability and performance
- Maintain comprehensive documentation for IT systems, troubleshooting steps, and resolutions.
- Administer Microsoft enterprise tools such as Exchange, IIS, and related services within the Microsoft stack.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and execute IT strategies that support business goals.
Leadership & Team Management
- Mentor and develop junior IT staff, promoting a culture of accountability, learning, and innovation.
- Allocate team resources effectively to meet operational demands and project timelines.
- Lead cross-functional IT projects, coordinating efforts with internal stakeholders and external vendors.
- Monitor performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement best practices in service delivery and system management.
Work Environment & Requirements
- Hybrid work model: combination of remote work, in-office presence, and onboard vessel support.
- Flexible availability, including occasional extended hours based on business needs.
- Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and navigate confined or elevated spaces aboard vessels as needed.
- Willingness to travel to ports and shipyards (valid driver's license required).
Qualifications & Skills
- 5–7 years of progressive experience in IT, including hands-on technical support and infrastructure management.
- Proven experience in leading teams, managing projects, and driving continuous improvement.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft environments and networking systems.
- Familiarity with maritime IT systems and vessel-specific infrastructure is a strong asset.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills with a methodical approach.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
