Job Description

We’re seeking a highly experienced Business Intelligence (BI) Developer based in Ottawa to support data-driven initiatives and build enterprise-grade analytics solutions for a high-impact government project. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge Microsoft BI technologies while shaping how data is collected, processed, and visualized.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain robust BI solutions using Microsoft BI tools.

• Build and optimize SSAS models, Power BI semantic models, and Power BI data flows.

• Create dynamic and static reports using Power BI and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).

• Develop workflows in Power Automate and data collection apps using Power Apps.

• Write optimized SQL queries and build data marts to support reporting needs.

• Leverage Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse Analytics, Microsoft AI Foundry, and Databricks to create scalable, AI-powered analytics solutions.

• Design and implement ETL pipelines using SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and the Ralph Kimball dimensional modeling approach.

• Support BI/ETL deployment and change management processes to ensure production readiness.

Must-Have Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with:

  • Microsoft BI tools (Power BI, SSRS, SSAS, Power Automate, Power Apps, etc.)

  • BI reporting elements and semantic modeling

  • SQL and data mart design

  • Azure Data Lake, Databricks, Azure Synapse, and AI-driven tools like Microsoft AI Foundry and Co-pilot Studio

• Minimum 5 years of experience in Data Warehousing, including:

  • Designing and implementing ETL processes using SSIS

  • Creating data marts using Ralph Kimball methodology

  • Promoting BI/ETL solutions to production for end-user delivery

Nice-to-Haves

• Government of Canada project experience

• Microsoft certifications (Power BI, Azure Data Engineering, etc.)

• Experience in Agile or DevOps environments
