Job Description
Our client, a nonprofit organization is seeking a skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join their team for a one-year contract. This role is primarily remote with a base location in Ottawa.
The Senior Financial Analyst will report to the Associate Director of Finance and work closely with the General Manager. This role is responsible for overseeing financial planning, analysis, budgeting, accounting, administration, and business planning for the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage financial planning, budgeting, and performance reporting for the department.
- Conduct in-depth research and prepare multi-year financial plans.
- Analyze financial trends, prepare reports, and mentor managers in financial management.
- Upload budgets, including departmental budgets, into the finance system.
- Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly financial statements and cash flow reports for internal departments, the CEO, and the Board.
- Collaborate with the Associate Director of Finance to finalize the annual budget and quarterly forecasts.
- Contribute to the design and documentation of finance processes and procedures.
- Review and provide input to internal control processes, risk assessments, and audits.
- Support major capital projects, monitor expenses against budgets, and manage invoicing and purchase orders.
- Work closely with the department's leadership on financial reporting, budgeting, and planning matters.
- Attend relevant performances or events as encouraged by the organization.
- Flexible work arrangements, with the option to work both remotely and from the office.
Required Qualifications:
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in financial analysis and budgeting at the corporate level.
- Professional accounting designation is a strong asset.
- Advanced analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in spreadsheet and word processing software.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
- Strong experience in full-cycle accounting.
- Ability to multi-task efficiently and work under pressure.
- Exceptional organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong knowledge of financial accounting systems.
- Team-oriented, with the ability to interact and communicate across all organizational levels.
- Bilingualism in English and French (oral and written) is an asset.
- A genuine interest in the performing arts and an appreciation for the creative process.
