Job Description

The Cybersecurity Specialist (SCADA/OT Security) is responsible for securing operational technology (OT) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. This role ensures the integrity, availability, and security of critical infrastructure, addressing cybersecurity threats and compliance requirements.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement cybersecurity policies, standards, and procedures related to SCADA and OT security.

  • Monitor, analyze, and respond to security threats affecting industrial control systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure.

  • Perform security assessments and audits on SCADA/OT environments to identify vulnerabilities and recommend remediation actions.

  • Provide security expertise and guidance for digital transformation projects involving SCADA/OT security.

  • Conduct root cause analysis for security incidents and recommend proactive solutions.

  • Implement and manage security controls for industrial control systems, networks, and related OT assets.

  • Support security breach response efforts, advising management and key stakeholders.

  • Manage and operate security tools, including SIEM, MDR, and network security platforms.

  • Ensure compliance with industry security standards and regulations, such as NIST, ISA/IEC 62443, ISO 2700x, and ITIL.

  • Collaborate with third-party vendors to assess SCADA/OT security risks and enforce compliance with security policies.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Strong knowledge of ICS/SCADA security best practices, network segmentation, and access control.

  • Experience with industrial protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and OPC.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks such as ISA/IEC 62443 and NIST 800-82.

  • Hands-on experience with security monitoring, threat detection, and incident response in OT environments.

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.

  • Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISA, CRISC, or SABSA.

  • SCADA/OT security certifications (e.g., GICSP, ISA/IEC 62443) are highly desirable.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with securing Building Automation Systems (BAS) and Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT).

  • Knowledge of penetration testing techniques for OT environments.
