Job Description
Our valued Federal Govdernment client is currently seeking a Datacentre Operations Specialist for an ONSITE, 1+ year contract to deploy and install hardware into two local datacenters in the National Capital Region
Roles and Responsibilities
- Coordinate with Service Providers for non-local datacenters.
- Under the direction of the Senior resources, troubleshoot hardware installation issues.
- Respond to project and operation demands received via the trouble ticketing tool.
- Deploy network cabling (copper and fiber).
- Maintain detailed documentation of all deployed IT assets and of the DCIM tool.
- Replace failed hardware components on systems (i.e., RAM, Hard Drives, cables, power supply,
- PDUs, etc.).
- Coordinate Return Merchandise Authorizations with manufacturers.
- Validate completed onsite third-party support work against the agreed-upon scope, reporting any variances or concerns to their manager.
Qualifications and Skills
- A minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in installation and power-up (Rack & Stack) of servers, peripherals, and network equipment.
- A minimum of three (3) years of experience and exposure in IT Operations work including, the
- operational capabilities and typical challenges of data center operations.
- Demonstrated experience of cabling infrastructure, as well as, maintaining documentation of newly installed infrastructure devices.
- Demonstrated understanding of data center facilities infrastructure, such as HVAC, service entrances, UPS, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to coordinate onsite support of third-party contractors performing infrastructure projects, preventative maintenance, or testing.
Education
Relevant Degree, Diploma, or Certificate considered an asset
