Our reputable client in the financial services industry it seseking a Director, Business Control to join their team!

This role is responsible for control design and monitoring support for all business lines. The Business Control Office (BCO) Control Design and Monitoring role will support the BCO management team to develop appropriate front office controls, and design and execute a control monitoring program to ensure we maintain a strong control environment within the front office. This position will also be responsible for control and process mapping related to priority areas of focus, especially in Treasury and will assist with the design and execution of control effectiveness assessments.

This is a hybrid role based out of their downtown Toronto office.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Designing controls to mitigate risks and streamline processes affecting the front office business lines.
  • Crafting a sustainable plan for control monitoring to be carried out by the BCO team.
  • Executing control monitoring tasks for the Canada Branch, encompassing RCSA, issue management, remediation, and control testing.
  • Identifying and overseeing existing controls within the Treasury Department to ensure consistent and robust operations, particularly in ALM (Asset Liability Management) control.
  • Offering insights and recommendations for new control measures and process improvements based on collected data and feedback.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of a model for assessing control effectiveness, including conducting assessment reviews.
  • Identifying and addressing areas of control weaknesses and process inefficiencies within the Canada Branch that warrant enhancement.
  • Providing strategic guidance to Treasury and overseeing daily treasury operations, including monitoring limits utilization.
  • Engaging in Funding and Liquidity management strategy discussions with the Front Office.
  • Spearheading the design and modeling of risk-based scenarios to enhance overall treasury market, funding, and liquidity risk management.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Undergraduate degree in any discipline (Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering). MBA preferred.
  • 7+ year experience in data management, data analytics, trend analysis and report production.
  • 10 years previous banking experience, primarily in Treasury, FX & Money Markets and ALM (Asset Liability Management).
  • Expertise in control frameworks, control assessment and control monitoring programs.
  • Expertise in process and control design, including process mapping and process reengineering
  • Exceptional communication (both written and verbal) and time management ability.
  • Experience interacting with senior management within a business environment.
  • Knowledge of the banking, risk management, market business and products.
