Role and Responsibilities:
Safety:
Ensure compliance with OH&S and environmental policies, establish a safety culture, contribute to plant cleanliness, and minimize accidents.
Environmental Considerations:
Support regulatory compliance and the plant's ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
Mechanical Supervision:
Assign and review work, maintain schedule compliance, streamline job execution, manage garage operations, respond to emergencies, and develop training plans.
Reporting:
Provide reports on maintenance performance, feedback to millwrights, review equipment history files, and ensure budget and schedule adherence.
Relationship Management:
Supervise maintenance personnel and contractors, administer collective agreement terms, promote good relations between departments, and oversee preventative maintenance actions.
Specific Accountabilities:
Supervise teams, administer collective agreement terms, complete work orders, ensure regulatory compliance, aim for equipment reliability, participate in on-call system, investigate safety incidents, and manage mobile equipment maintenance.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education: Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Industrial Maintenance Mechanic (Millwright) certifications with relevant experience.
Experience:
Minimum 8 years' work experience in heavy industry, experience in heavy equipment repair and inspections, knowledge of labor laws and personnel management rules, experience with Computerized Mechanical Maintenance Systems (CMMS), and strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Nice to Haves:
Experience with plant shutdowns and major work execution. Proficiency in work quality control and identifying process improvements. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment.
