Data Architect (Azure)

Client: Altis Technology & Recruitment (Internal)
Duration: Permanent Full Time
Salary: $130 – 160K annually
Location: Remote-by-choice with offices located in Ottawa, Toronto, & Vancouver

The successful candidate will take on a pivotal role, responsible for seamlessly building our Data infrastructure on the Microsoft Fabric platform. Additionally, you will play an integral part in adding new and crucial data pipelines to ingest and cleanse data sources, which are fundamental to bringing Altis Recruitment to the forefront of Data Analytics.

Responsibilities:

• Lead design and development of efficient data pipelines with Azure and ADF Pipelines.
• Lead building of a control center for real-time and batch industrial process data collection.
• Implement modern data architecture and governance policies for compliance.
• Manage data warehouse technologies and optimize performance.
• Convert existing ETL/Datawarehouse infrastructure to the Lakehouse platform and integrate new data sources.
• Ensure data quality, Data governance, Data privacy standards and consistency across multiple sources.
• Identify and resolve issues with data pipelines promptly.
• Oversee data visualization architecture for PowerBI reporting functions.
• Develop machine learning operations infrastructure using Terraform or Azure Resource Manager (ARM).
• Integrate new data sources and align with standard models.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and address data needs.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on designing, implementing, and maintaining data infrastructure.
• Must have experience in leading a data warehouse implementation, including implementation of Data governance, Data management, Data quality, Data security, Data privacy standards (PIPEDA, PIPA)
• Must have experience in handling digital data transformations end-to-end.
• 5+ years of Data Warehousing experience with hands on expertise with Data Warehouses, Lakehouse's, & Data Lakes including ACID transactions, schema enforcement, indexing, and caching.
• Knowledge of the Microsoft Fabric platform
• Experience in ETL tools like Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or Apache Airflow.
• Online analytical processing (OLAP) experience.
• Knowledge of data security standards (e.g., PIPEDA, PIPA) and implementing secure solutions in Azure.
• Strong problem-solving skills in complex data engineering scenarios.
• Azure certification (Developer Associate, Administrator Associate, or Solutions Architect Expert) is preferred.
