Job Description

The Learning Designer supports the Senior Manager, Learning Design in the development, research, design, and evaluation of new training programs, as well as the enhancement of existing ones. This role collaborates closely with the Learning Project Manager, business stakeholders, project teams, the systems implementation team, and the client Academy Facilitators throughout the design, content development, and implementation lifecycle. The incumbent will also address urgent content updates, provide learning consultation, and manage ad hoc requests as needed. The learning design function operates under a dynamic SLA that prioritizes user experience and the measurable effectiveness of training initiatives. Utilizing the ADDIE instructional design methodology (Assess, Develop, Design, Implement, Evaluate), the Learning Designer will create and improve associate capabilities (frameworks, processes, and systems) through blended learning solutions. Exceptional written communication skills are essential.

What You'll Do:

  • Assess, design, develop, and implement sustainable blended learning and knowledge management solutions focusing on principles/frameworks, procedures, and technologies to enhance learner experience, improve knowledge retention, and offer flexible learning options.
  • Audit, utilize, and modify learning materials from other Canada teams and our US/International partners.
  • Work with cross-functional teams to ensure that learning solutions meet business requirements, align with corporate best practices, and effectively enhance performance.
  • Employ instructional design and digital media expertise to craft blended learning solutions that lead to a positive user experience and behavioral change.
  • Create learning programs that achieve desired outcomes and adhere to learning metrics. Utilize Level 1-4 evaluation methods to assess the effectiveness of blended learning solutions and provide recommendations for ongoing improvement of learning initiatives.
  • When necessary, coordinate with external learning vendors, including comprehensive project management of externally-developed learning solutions.
  • Regularly update and validate existing documentation and content.
  • Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements. Suggest ways to streamline, modernize, and evolve the learning function within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of and 3+ years of experience in instructional design principles and practices, adult learning principles, interactive learning design, and blended learning techniques (classroom design, e-learning, action learning, communities of practice, self-paced).
  • Proficiency in authoring software such as Articulate Storyline and multimedia design tools like Adobe Pro (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere, After Effects, Animate).
  • Photography and Videography/Editing and Narration skills are advantageous.
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Axonify is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Proactive and able to initiate actions that deliver results.
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent relationship management and collaboration abilities (internal and external).
