Job Description

Our association and non-profit client is currently seeking a permanent Bilingual Legal Assistant to join their growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience providing a full range of egal administrative support to senior leadership within the litigation department. 

This is a hybrid position, that offers opportunities for development and growth. The successful candidate MUST be bilingual in French and English. 

RESPONSIBILTIES: 
  • Opening files, drafting and proofreading documentation. 
  • Revising and formatting various correspondence and legal documents, issuing and arranging for service of originating processes and other documents in accordance with the Law Society’s Rules of Practice and Procedure and the Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Preparing and filing materials with the Tribunal Office and the Courts in respect of hearings, motions and appeals.
  • Regularly drafting or preparing affidavits, charts, correspondence and memoranda.
  • Calendaring all case related deadlines for discipline prosecutors.
  • Monitoring deadlines and due dates.
  • Coordinating travel arrangements as requested for staff.
  • Other administrative tasks as required. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • 3-5 years’ of experience as a law clerk or legal assistant in a law practice, government and/or regulatory environment (preferably litigation).
  • Post-secondary education in a related field. 
  • A solid knowledge of the Rules of Civil Procedure and/or Rules of Practice for an Administrative Tribunal. 
  • Must be fluently bilingual in French and English (verbal and written).
  • Strong communication skills to effectively respond to and transmit information to team members and others.
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills to handle high volumes of work and to multi-task.
