Job Description
We are working with a Federal Government client seeking a
Senior Aerospace Research Consultant to join their team on an on-site 1-year contract.
Roles and Responsibilities (included but not limited to):
- Supporting ongoing applied research areas in structural full-scale testing, structural mechanics, testing design, testing measurements/instrumentation for structural integrity and certification tests.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: B.Eng., B.Sc., B.A.Sc. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering (Other engineering degrees (B. Sc.) will consider provided evidence of solid aerospace experience is provided) - Any other degrees accepted as long as they have experience in aero space
- 7+ years experience in static and fatigue mechanical testing with a demonstrated ability to: determine testing loads; design testing fixtures; design structural repairs; define test instrumentation and prepare inspection plans, for small to large component and full-scale tests on metallic, composite materials and/or hybrid structures;
- 2 to 6 years experience in aircraft structural test design, stress analysis, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis including data collection and analysis, overseeing data production, and ensuring data quality;
- Experience in direct supervision of people, working in multi-disciplinary teams with industrial sector engineers, government and/or academic researchers, technical officers, as well as working with airworthiness certification authorities;
- Significant experience in the full process of aircraft structural engineering principles including identification of structural integrity problems and new requirements, selection of advanced testing approaches/technologies, structural finite element modeling, fatigue, and fracture performance evaluation and reporting through technical documentation, presentations, and other publications; and
- Experience in project management, business development, marketing activities, and/or the development of partnerships and collaborations with industries, OGD, international agencies, and academia related to aerospace engineering.
