Seeking a Business Development Specialist for our nonprofit client. This is a PERMANENT position that offers vacation, benefits, pension plan, and employee discounts and wellness programs. The role involves a strong community presence, and therefore, the successful candidate could be working onsite or within the community Monday to Friday. Main office is located in Thunder Bay.
**This role does require some travelling within the community. Must have a drivers license and their own vehicle. (milage will be covered).
In this role you would generate and identify leads, build a pipeline of potential donors, build relationships, and ensure the growth and maintenance of high quality and committed donor bases. You would also be responsible for community engagement, the maintenance of a good public image and ensuring there is ongoing public support.
Duties:
- Organize and conduct information sessions that target specific groups based on community research and demographic.
- Find and engage new donors through referrals, networking, and cold calling.
- Manage client relationships within the area and work with managers on keys initiatives to keep relationships going.
- Promote and enhance a positive public image within the community with public speaking and media engagement events.
- Develop sales action plans with marketing and communications to support business development and retention.
- Manage, mentor, and direct staff on implementing sales strategies to exceed targets.
- Build pipeline of potential donors, maintain relationships, ensure growth and maintenance of high-quality donor base.
- Host in-community information sessions to generate leads and referrals for potential ambassadors.
- Onboard and train ambassadors
- Ensure expenditures are within budgets, assess resources needed, hire, train and oversee volunteers.
- Foster relationships with first nations communities
Requirements:
- Degree in marketing or business administration ideally
- 5+ years of sales management experience
- Strong communication skills in French
- 2 years of experience in planning and executing media interviews is ideal
- Experience in cannabis sales or pharmaceutical sales is considered a strong asset
- Experience building relationships with first nations communities would be an asset
