Altis Recruitment is currently seeking a qualified Controller for one of our clients in the banking and financial services industry. Responsibilities include collaborating with Canadian and NY colleagues, preparing budgets, maintaining accurate General Ledger records, and providing quality-assured financial reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, be proficient in Canadian accounting standards, and demonstrate effective communication with senior management. 

RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Manage financial accounting for the Canadian entities
• Ensure compliance with Group policies and Canadian tax regulations
• Coordinate with colleagues in Canada and New York as well as external and internal auditors
• Contribute to the preparation of the annual budget
• Maintain accuracy of the General Ledger
• Act as a strategic business partner to senior management
• Monitor management results and service agreements
• Compare management results to the budget
• Prepare and generate all Canadian financial reports with quality assurance of the general ledger
• Provide accounting analysis adhering to Canadian rules
• Prepare and oversee income and VAT tax forms, including examination and oversight of tax analysis for corporate income tax, VAT, and transfer pricing agreements
• Participate in the preparation of the annual budget
• Ensure proper documentation and description of processes under their responsibility

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Seeking a designated CPA or someone pursuing the designation with at least 3 years of relevant experience
• Must be adaptable and self-motivated, capable of handling multiple tasks with meticulous attention to detail
• Strong organizational and communication skills are essential
• Familiarity with Canadian corporate tax, VAT tax, and Québec International financial tax credit is advantageous
• Proficiency in Canadian IFRS GAAP for public companies is required
• Demonstrated strong computer skills are necessary
• Fluency in both French and English is preferred
