Job Description

Our client, an internationally recognized professional organization in the financial sector, is seeking a Project Manager to join its research team in Ottawa.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Research and working as part of a team of three, the Project Manager oversees the day-to-day operations of the research function, which includes managing the collection, handling, and use of proprietary data from external contributors, managing relationships with external researchers retained to perform specific research studies, and ensuring compliance with relevant policies, procedures, and regulations.

The Project Manager provides comprehensive project management and administrative support to the research function and its associated committees, subcommittees, and task forces and is pivotal in ensuring that core research studies, which the organization’s members rely on to do their jobs, are completed on time and according to specified service standards.

Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of all research initiatives and provide regular updates to the Research Council.
  • Coordinate Research Council meetings, including agenda preparation, minute-taking, and logistical arrangements.
  • Assist in implementing the research program strategy and provide updates to the Board and Leadership Team.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure support for research providers and timely dissemination of research results.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to prepare initiative descriptions and manage the Request for Proposals (RFP) process.
  • Oversee the selection and engagement of research providers, including drafting legal agreements and coordinating meetings.
  • Monitor initiative progress, identify potential issues, and work with stakeholders to develop solutions.
  • Manage invoicing and payment processes for research providers in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Oversee the collection of data from external contributors, ensuring compliance with data handling policies and privacy laws.
  • Maintain relationships with data contributors and manage access to contributed data for research purposes.
  • Address any issues with contributed data and report potential violations of data policies.

Qualifications: 

  • University degree in a relevant field; professional credentials in project management or information management preferred.
  • Three to five years of project management experience, preferably in a research environment.
  • Experience with databases, web content management tools, and working with professionals or volunteers.
  • Proficient in project management principles and standard office software.
  • Familiarity with data management practices and statistical software is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently with attention to detail.
  • Strong English communication skills, both oral and written. It is an asset to be bilingual in French. 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and occasional peak periods of extended hours.
  • Standard work hours with occasional travel required.
