Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Corporate Commercial Lawyer to provide legal support to our organization in managing complex agreements, negotiations with external clients, and collaboration with internal business teams. The ideal candidate will have a solid background in corporate and commercial law, contract negotiation, procurement, and regulatory matters. This is an individual contributor role and does not involve managerial responsibilities.

Location: Fully Remote

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with external clients and internal business teams to draft, review, and negotiate complex agreements and contracts.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance on corporate and commercial matters, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Assist in procurement processes and negotiations, including vendor contracts and partnerships.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support business decisions and strategic initiatives.
  • Review and advise on regulatory compliance issues relevant to the organization's operations.
  • Manage a large workload efficiently and effectively, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate complex legal concepts clearly and effectively to non-legal stakeholders.
  • Exercise sound judgment and decision-making in resolving legal issues and mitigating risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B/J.D.) from a recognized institution.
  • Admission to the Bar in Ontario, Canada.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience practicing corporate and commercial law in a mid to large size law firm 
  • Strong understanding of contract law, corporate governance, and commercial transactions.
  • Experience in negotiating complex agreements and contracts with external parties.
  • Familiarity with procurement processes and vendor management.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to non-profit organizations is an asset.
  • Professional demeanor with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
