Job Description

Work Model: Remote within Alberta, with availability for onsite meetings as needed (approximately 3-4 times per month).

Project: Data Strategy Roadmap

Scope: Our client requires a Business Analyst to support the Data Centre of Excellence Unit in delivering key items for the data strategy roadmap. This includes supporting the development and delivery of data products and services such as analytical models, dashboards, and visualizations, crucial for analytical, policy, and legislative functions.

Responsibilities:

• Engage in strategic, architectural, and technical discussions with various levels of management and business clients.
• Document and track business requirements for data product and component development.
• Contribute to the creation of business analysis artifacts with a focus on business outcomes and transformation.
• Facilitate access to data assets for policy analysis, program planning, and decision-making.
• Participate in presentations, mediations, and negotiations with diverse stakeholders.

General Duties:

• Lead or assist in meetings and workshops with departments, clients, and stakeholders.
• Identify, analyze, and document business requirements.
• Support data product design and implementation using Data Fabric and Data Mesh architecture.
• Engage in business process improvement and mapping.
• Document business and technical metadata for data products.
• Participate in planning, monitoring, and performing User Acceptance Testing.
• Collaborate with staff and contractors across departments.

Deliverables: To be determined in conjunction with the client team and project management, including regular status reports.

Educational and Work Experience Requirements:

• Relevant degree, diploma, or certification.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in business requirements and data management.
• Proven experience in client management, data management frameworks, and agile projects.
• Knowledge in BI/data visualization tools, data analysis, data governance, and security.
• Experience with public sector projects is a plus.
