Job Description

Our client in the non-profit industry is looking for a Approval and Licensing Specialist to join their team in Toronto. This position is full-time permanent and is hybrid (3 days a week in office). This role offers 3 weeks vacation, a full benefits package and more!

Reporting into the  Manager of Regulatory Studies, the individual in this position will offer project management proficiency and oversee the coordination of technical regulatory studies and necessary deliverables for acquiring environmental permits and approvals. This encompasses tasks such as environmental impact assessments and nuclear licensing. 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key members of the Regulatory Approvals and Impact Assessment team to draft and issue requests for proposals, evaluate and select contractors.
  • Oversee the planning, scheduling, coordination, and monitoring of regulatory studies supporting environmental effects assessments.
  • Assist interdisciplinary teams in developing studies necessary for environmental impact assessments and regulatory permitting.
  • Offer technical input and guidance as a subject matter expert to team members regarding regulatory and permitting requirements for environmental impact assessments and nuclear licensing.
  • Establish and maintain the regulatory commitments register throughout the regulatory process, managing mitigation and monitoring efforts.
  • Other duties as required 

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • A degree in in environmental science, environmental or civil engineering, or a related field. 
  • 8+ years of experience in project management with the capability to facilitate and coordinate work projects and deliverables involving diverse subject matter experts, as well as both technical and non-technical colleagues.
  • 5+ years of expertise in securing environmental permits and approvals within the Canadian context, with a focus on managing environmental impact assessments and obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  • Familiarity with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations and guidelines, with a particular emphasis on understanding environmental assessment and permitting procedures in Ontario, is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
