Job Description

Our client in construction manufacturing industry is seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their team in Ottawa, ON. This role requires frequent travel to Kingston, ON and Mississauga, ON.  

The Human Resources Manager is tasked with devising strategic human resource plans and strategies to bolster sustainable and profitable business operations, emphasizing a role as a business partner. This individual will collaborate with the Head of HR for Eastern Canada and line managers to pinpoint critical HR issues and formulate action plans in alignment with business objectives.

Responsibilities: 

  • Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, customer focus, and operational support while ensuring full compliance with Health & Safety policies.
  • Collaborate with the Health and Safety team during investigations and initiatives.
  • Assist the Head of HR in implementing HR strategies for resource planning and resolving organizational issues.
  • Coordinate performance management activities including appraisals, recruitment, learning and development, and employee relations.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of HR programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Advise client groups on policy matters and engage with HR team members to drive consistency.
  • Understand the organization's vision, mission, and value drivers for informed decision-making.
  • Analyze HR metrics for performance insights and ROI assessment.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on company culture and employee value proposition.
  • Promote a high-performance culture and engaged work environment.
  • Play a strategic role in change management and facilitate training and development initiatives.
  • Support talent management processes for employee development and retention.
  • Ensure legal compliance and provide guidance on legislative requirements.
  • Represent the organization in legal proceedings and support resolution of issues.
  • Provide support for Employee/Labor Relations matters and participate in negotiations.
  • Partner with HR Shared Services to streamline processes and reduce administrative burden.
  • Report to the Head of HR and collaborate with HR team members and business stakeholders.

Qualifications: 

  • A Bachelor's degree in HR or a related field. A graduate-level degree is highly desirable.
  • At least 5-7 years of experience in Human Resources, showcasing expertise in various HR functions such as talent development, performance management, policy development, succession planning, compensation, and recruitment strategy.
  • Possession of HR designations such as CHRP or higher is recommended.
  • Bilingualism is an asset.
  • Access to a vehicle and license.
