Our Government Client is looking for a UX Designer, who will play a pivotal role in crafting user-friendly and visually captivating interfaces, utilizing a range of design tools and methodologies. In this exciting role you will gather user feedback, create prototypes, and iterate designs to deliver top-notch products that cater to user needs.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide user experience design for new LearnAlberta.ca, LearnAlberta.ca, and related applications.
- Collaborate with an agile software development team to produce wireframes, mockups, and high-fidelity user interface designs based on user research findings and requirements.
- Develop interactive prototypes to facilitate stakeholder and development team review of application functionality and user flows.
- Conduct user research through interviews and surveys to gain insights into target users' needs and pain points.
- Perform usability testing to validate design decisions and ensure application usability and effectiveness.
- Work closely with project team members and potentially other contracted services to deliver and assess graphic design products or projects for various digital curriculum products.
- Cultivate subject matter expertise in one or more areas related to provincial curriculum development and delivery to offer usability feedback and design services.
- Review software features pre-production to ensure design coherence.
- Assist in producing prototypes of various levels to facilitate the design and usability testing process, including interactive Figma designs, HTML5 prototypes, and paper prototypes.
- Provide consulting services across multiple projects, offering guidance and expert opinions to project teams and staff on user experience design.
- Participate in design workshops.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in the role of user experience designer on agile web-based software development application projects.
- Proficiency in design-related software such as Figma and Axure, indicating level of expertise (basic, advanced, expert), along with years of experience.
- Familiarity and experience with HTML5 and CSS, indicating level of expertise (basic, advanced, expert).
- Ability to provide design samples (e.g., wireframes, mock-ups, prototypes, or other relevant design samples).
Education
- University degree in Computer Science, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing user experience design services on web-based software development application projects. OR
- Two-year diploma in Computer Science, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum of two (2) years of experience providing user experience design services on web-based software development application projects. OR
- One-year certificate in Computer Science, UX Design, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Web Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or a related discipline from an accredited post-secondary institution, with a minimum of four (4) years of experience providing user experience design services on web-based software development application projects.
