Job Description

We are seeking two (2) experienced External Project Managers (PM’s) capable of leading cross-functional teams in various projects. The successful candidates will oversee a range of initiatives including operational improvement projects, facility upgrades, and technical upgrade projects. The PMs will be responsible for ensuring the successful delivery of each project within scope, timeline, and budget.

Responsibilities:

Operational Improvement Project 
  • Manage the delivery of an operational improvement project related to Hearing Loss claims, including building a new integration and developing a new application to access data.
  • Develop processes, procedures, and training materials to support users.
  • Update or create technical documentation in accordance with organizational standards.
  • Collaborate with an application developer and business analyst assigned to the project.
Facility Upgrades:
  • Facility Security: Oversee the update or replacement of the WCB's security and access card system, possibly in conjunction with the photo ID card system.
  • Facility Meeting Spaces: Modernize meeting spaces in Halifax and Sydney offices to support a hybrid work environment, including procuring hardware and implementing solutions.

 Infrastructure and Software Upgrade Projects:

  • Oversee upgrades of on-premises Windows 2012 servers, SQL Server 2014 environment, and custom-built applications to the newest version of .Net.
  • Develop upgrade plans to minimize impact on users and ensure compliance with support requirements.

Mandatory Skillset and Expertise:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as a Project Manager.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience managing multiple, unrelated projects simultaneously.
  • At least 5 years of project management experience within the last 10 years.
  • At least 2 successful projects performing infrastructure and database upgrade projects in the past 3 years.
  • Experience leading custom development upgrade projects.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project for planning and SharePoint for document management.
  • Experience writing/developing technical specifications of RFPs.

Optional Competencies:

  • Experience managing projects with 3rd party vendors within the last 5 years.
  • Familiarity with Stage-Gated, waterfall governance model.
  • Previous experience with facility security upgrades or meeting room upgrades for hybrid work environments.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Azure Services.
  • PMP or other industry-recognized Project Management certification.
  • Previous experience with solution development including training.
  • Previous experience with WCB NS or other WCB.
