Job Description
Our client in the financial sector is currently looking to hire a Collections Clerk to join their team for a 6 month contract. This is a full-time contract based out of Gloucester, ON.
Responsibilities:
- Initiate daily collection procedures for returned mortgage payments.
- Communicate with debtors regarding overdue mortgage payments via email, phone calls, and postal mail, and pursue follow-ups if necessary.
- Negotiate payment arrangements with mortgagors.
- Record payment arrangements accurately in the payment system.
- Facilitate payment acceptance through e-transfers and bank drafts and ensure proper identification of deposits in the bank account.
- Process payments via EFTs, e-transfers, bank drafts, and bank deposits.
- Conduct regular reviews of delinquent accounts to determine appropriate actions.
- Maintain precise records, including comprehensive notes on collection activities.
- Collaborate with the Department Manager in addressing collection matters.
- Participate in weekly reviews and discussions with the Department Manager regarding past-due accounts.
- Assist in the development and implementation of collections policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Ideally 3-5 years of experience in collections and AR
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to be assertive and manage escalated customer interactions as required.
- Ability to exhibit composure, patience, and confidence when facing difficult situations.
- Excellent organization, time management skills
- Strong clerical and administrative duties
