Job Description

We are actively recruiting for our client in the education industry, seeking a dedicated and experienced professional to fill the role of a permanent Senior Financial Analyst. Reporting to the Manager, Finance, Risk, and Facilities, the successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting the financial objectives of the education enterprise. Responsibilities include data-driven decision-making, efficient policy implementation, and financial planning to ensure organizational success. The position involves budget development, financial analysis, and collaboration with project teams.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Understand and propose changes to the budget model.
  • Analyze key budget drivers and develop plans for strategic planning.
  • Lead budget and forecast processes, including salary administration guidance.
  • Maintain and update the budget model, incorporating stakeholder input.
  • Complete month-end reviews and analyses, providing recommendations.
  • Coordinate term/year-end analyses, ensuring compliance with financial guidelines.
  • Calculate and accrue revenues, maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Develop templates and analyses for strategic planning.
  • Build strategic partnerships with departmental leaders.
  • Create financial models for decision-making.
  • Develop performance metrics and prepare financial reports.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders and community members.
  • Provide managerial accounting training to various levels of management.
  • Back up managerial responsibilities in the absence of the Manager.
  • Assist in hiring, performance management, and discipline of staff.
  • Conduct training sessions for administrative staff on work processes and financial matters.

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • 4 years of Financial Analyst Experience in a mid to large sized corporation or public sector finance department/division.
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft Financial or any other ERP system will be considered a definite asset.
  • Experience working on finance related technical projects and project management experience preferred.
  • Advanced spreadsheet skills (Excel), intermediate Word & PowerPoint.
Education
  • University degree in a related field (e.g. Business, Accounting, or Economics)
  • Recognized accounting designation (CPA, CPA CGA, CPA CMA, CPA CA)
